NOW IS THE TIME TO APPLY FOR the 2008 federal Teaching American History (TAH) grants offered by the U.S. Department of Education. Awards are to be announced between March and June 2008, says Alex Stein, team leader for TAH. Applicants can visit the TAH Web site for updates and deadlines. In total, $120 million in competitive grants will be allocated to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) for proposals that must include a partnership with an educational nonprofit and/or history-based organization.
