A State-By-State Forecast
The news for deer hunters is good. Last year's winter was mild, with no significant loss of animals reported in most northern and western states. Although past droughts have reduced deer numbers in some areas, particularly in the Southwest, whitetail and mule-deer populations overall are either stable or on the rise. The 1995 buck season could well be one for the record books.
* Alabama: Deer hunters here enjoy a long season - November through January - and a liberal limit of one buck a day. Overall, the herd of 1.5 million animals is stable, according to the state Deer Studies Project leader David Nelson. "The exception would be ...
