SOMERSET WEST: South African sunshine will provide the backdrop to the first event of the Sunshine Tour next year.
With an increased purse of e1.1 million (R11 million), the Joburg Open will take place from January 10-13.
The event is jointly sanctioned by the European Tour. This is also the second consecutive season in which the Sunshine Tour teams up with the European Tour at the beginning of the season.
"The Joburg Open offers the Sunshine Tour and European Tour members a wonderful opportunity to make a sensational start in the race for the rankings on both tours," Sunshine Tour commissioner, Johan Immelman, said.
