The incursion of natural beef into supermarket meat cases is becoming more prevalent.

The recently released 2007 National Meat Case Study--which is based on audits of meat cases at 121 supermarkets and 10 club stores in 38 states and 48 U.S. markets--reports that 25 percent of all ground beef packages had the word "natural" on the label, up from just 7 percent in 2004.
Overall, 4 percent of all beef packages carried a "natural" designation, compared to 2 percent in 2004.
