Article: Call for Irish Language Officer in Moyle?

SINN Fein councillor Cara McShane is calling on Moyle District Council to appoint an Irish Language Officer.

She said she was approached by people from the Irish Language community about the Council applying for such a post for which she said 50 per cent funding is available.

The councillor said such an officer could help promote the area in terms of using Irish for "cultural tourism".

The idea of setting up a north-east 'Gaeltacht' or Irish speaking area has been floated in some circles in the past.
