Article: New moves for flats plan at Laughton home.

SCARBOROUGH builder Ken Ferrie has made new moves to carry out a controversial flats scheme involving a former home of the famous Laughton family.

The project involves the demolition of an East Park Road, Scalby, property which was once owned by Frank Laughton, a brother of Holllywood star Charles Laughton.

Mr Ferrie's company, KFB, applied to Scarborough Council for permission to knock down the house at 18 East Park Road and build 14 flats, a move which sparked widespread opposition from local residents.

The application was turned down by councillors even though council planning officials had recommended the scheme for approval.
