CANBERRA, Nov 26 Asia Pulse -Australia changed governments on Saturday as former Prime Minister John Howard's 11-year rule was ended by a sweeping victory by Kevin Rudd's Labor Party.
Mr Rudd became Australia's 26th prime minister after an emphatic victory over Mr Howard.
The Labor Party achieved a 5.8 per cent national swing, sealing an ALP hold on every government across Australia.
Labor needed 16 seats to claim an election victory for the first time since 1993, but it picked up 10 in Mr Rudd's home state of Queensland and another seven in NSW.
Labor is expected to claim as many as 86 of the parliament's 150 seats. Labor is set to ...
