The Umbilo River was covered in layers of foam last weekend and Queensburgh residents believe the main culprit is a local sewage plant.
The river looked like a bubble bath after heavy rains. Locals said the foam was a regular problem, but they had never seen that much before.
Frustrated residents said they had complained about pollution in the river for years, but the problem persisted.
Herman Botes moved into the area 15 years ago and said the river was only clear during the festive season when the factories were closed.
