Jacob Zuma's grand showing at the ANC polls this weekend was a death knell for a possible compromise candidate, analysts said yesterday.
Meanwhile, analyst Xolela Mangcu, one of former Gauteng Premier Tokyo Sexwale's most ardent backers, has called for his supporters to back Zuma instead after his preferred candidate's dismal showing.
In his reaction, Professor Adam Habib of the University of Johannesburg, said there was no way Zuma would agree to a compromise candidate, now that he had the strong scent of victory.
"It is becoming clear he (President Thabo Mbeki) will be humiliated in Polokwane," Habib said. ...
