Consortium buys BOE Hydis to secure flat panel supplies
Shanghai. November 27. INTERFAX-CHINA - Three electronics companies, Alco Holdings Ltd. and Varitronix International Ltd. of Hong Kong and Taiwan-based Prime View, have jointly acquired BOE Hydis, the Korean- based subsidiary of Chinese display panel manufacturer BOE Technology, for HKD 2.19 billion ($280.8 million), Alco and Varitronix announced yesterday.
The three buyers said that the acquisition will help them secure a stable supply of small-sized LCD panels amid the current shortage of small and medium-sized LCD panels in China.
