Lethbridge first had a historical society in 1888, which predated by 19 years the Historical Society of Alberta. Although it was not in continuous operation since it was first formed, it has been since the 1950s and is still going strong today with 130 members. It has been an active organization, helping to build a city museum, an extensive archives, and the most vigorous publishing operation among historical organizations in the province. And these are just a few of its many accomplishments.
