The Supreme Court (SC) has affirmed the three life sentences imposed on a Quezon City resident who ravished his daughter three times, first in 1996 when she was only 12years-old and twice in 1998.
In a decision written by Justice Minita V. Chico Nazario, the SC said that while the trial court imposed the correct penalty of three death sentences on William Ching, the penalty had to be commuted by the Court of Appeals (CA) to three life sentences with the abolition of the death penalty in the statute books.
On top of the life sentences, the SC affirmed the CA's modification on the award of damages.
