Jul. 1--A new glass-container company, to be owned by Ball Corp. and a French concern, now has a name, a headquarters and a chief executive. Ball-Foster Glass Container Co. will be based in Muncie and be headed by Herbert H. Thompson, currently a vice president of American National Can Co.
The announcements were made Friday. Ball, also based in Muncie, and Cie. de Saint-Gobain of France earlier this week announced formation of the joint venture.
Ball is placing the assets of its Ball Glass Container Corp. unit into the new company. At the same time, the joint venture is acquiring the Foster- Forbes glass business of American National Can.
