SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador -- Today, Fitch Ratings Central America released a special report on the Central American banking sector, entitled 'Central American Banks: New Players in the Field.' In Fitch's view, the industry has changed dramatically in the recent past, showing increased consolidation, with larger banks becoming more competitive and smaller players still facing significant challenges.
