Since its acquisition over a decade ago by the city of Holland, Michigan, the Van Raalte Farm has been gradually developed for passive and active recreation uses while preserving most of the historic farmstead in a natural state. The property has become a major component of the city's recreation master plan and could easily become a unique regional attraction.
Situated at the east side of the city limits within a probable growth corridor, the farm originated more than 150 years ago when Reverend Albertus Van Raalte, the founding father of the city, purchased 155 acres from the federal government.
