HIGH-level diplomatic negotiations were continuing today over the 15-day prison sentence given to British teacher Gillian Gibbons for naming a teddy bear Mohammed.
Foreign Secretary David Miliband has "expressed in the strongest terms" his concern over jailing of Mrs Gibbons by a court in Sudan.
Mrs Gibbons, 54, was found guilty of insulting Islam, her defence lawyers said, but escaped conviction on a more serious charge of inciting hatred, which could have earned her 40 lashes, a fine and a six-month jail term.
She is expected to serve her term at Omdurman women's prison near Khartoum before she is deported to ...
