During a natural disaster, having backup electrical power can be critical. But what might be even more essential is having enough fuel to supply the generator through the duration of the outage. In normal conditions, a readily available fuel source is often only a block or two away. In a natural disaster the rules change, and counting on fuel being delivered is not the surest way to get a backup power installation up and running.
