NEW YORK -- Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. is reportedly developing three new types of drugs to target diabetes, the world's fastest-growing disease. According to analysts, each of the planned medicines carries sales potential of $1 billion annually.
Two of the pharmaceuticals, which could change the way diabetes is treated, are the focus of partnerships Bristol-Myers has with Pfizer Inc. and AstraZeneca PLC.
Analysts assert that the first of the new pills could reach the market in two years. By 2011, they say, those therapies could generate revenue of $1 billion, with each holding the potential of surpassing the peak $2.7 billion that Bristol-Myers' ...
