Floating rocks.(weatherfront)(the North American continent )

Global warming is widely accepted as a bad thing. On the opposite end of the spectrum, researchers say there is evidence that cooling of the Earth's crust would be a very, very bad thing.

According to a study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research-Solid Earth, the North American continent is kept afloat by heat that makes rock buoyant. If the temperature of this rock were cooled to 750[degrees]F (400[degrees]C), which is the temperature of some of the coldest crustal rock in North America, the continent would likely sink.

By how much? Well, New York would sink 1,427 feet (435 meters) into the Atlantic Ocean. Los Angeles would truly become the city of angels ...
