A DATE-RAPE drug made from nail polish remover is being used in sexualassaults, it emerged yesterday.

GBL - an industrial solvent - is a clear liquid which can quickly render anyonedrinking it unconscious.

Similar to the banned drug GHB, it is proving popular in nightclubs, because itcreates a sense of euphoria when taken in small doses.

But overdoses are common, with as little as one teaspoon sufficient to put theuser in a coma.

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs said there was also evidence it hadbeen used in date-rape sexual assaults.
