Article: Program helps doctors manage chronic pain.(Neurology)

ORLANDO -- A supportive, interdisciplinary program can help primary care physicians in the community overcome their reluctance to treat patients with chronic pain, according to early results from a small trial presented at the annual clinical meeting of the American Academy of Pain Management.

The data indicate that primary care physicians who participated in the program were significantly more comfortable with managing the emotional effects of chronic pain and with determining patients' improvement in function and pain diminution.
