The Private Power Board has issued Letters of Interest (Lol) to as many as 11 companies for installing power generating units of cumulative 2884 MW in various parts of the city.
COSCOP Powergen Project
Lol has been issued for a 107 unit to COSCOP Powergen which has been advised to coordinate with KESC for site selection, COSCOP has earlier proposed Mauripur, Karachi as a site but KESC said that the sponsors should shift their project from Mauripur to either Baldia or Gadani, because KESC is unable to absorb power at 66 KV and in view of sensitivity of nuclear power stability, they cannot use 132 KV transmission line at Mauripur.
