COLUMN: SO I'VE HEARD
Fourteen former Evening Gazette carriers were with National Guard Company L when the Webster unit left for training at Potsdam, N.Y., Aug. 4, 1940. The citizen soldiers were photographed with the late Louis J. Blanchart, then Webster-Dudley circulation manager for the Worcester newspapers.
Vincent Bauman, August Kemnitz, Edward Napierata, Joseph Kiwak, Ray Sherby, Honore Giroux, Adam Kasik, Peter and Thomas Szynal, Chester Waddington, James Olds, Milton White, Roland Montville, and Joseph Kokoska were carriers for the afternoon daily in the mid- to late 1930s.
