NEW YORK - Hoping it will become a magnet for international tourists, Liz Claiborne Inc. will open its second store here today.
The two-level 17,000-square-foot store is at 650 Fifth Avenue, near 52nd Street. It has 13,000 square feet of selling space, making it the largest of Liz Claiborne's 30 stores. The other Claiborne units average about 8,000 square feet.
The store is across the street from Cartier and part of a retail cluster that includes Banana Republic and Benetton. It is two blocks away from Rockefeller Center and Saks Fifth Avenue. It carries the company's better-price women's sportswear brands as well as accessories, including shoes.
