The UK's Chemical Business Association (CBA) has described the fees charged for registering substances under Reach legislation as 'out of control'. Some of the charges in a new scale from the European Chemicals Agency (ECA) are several hundred percent over the figures originally proposed by the European Commission (EC), CBA said.
The base fee for a joint submission to register a substance in the one to 10 tonne category was originally budgeted by the EC to be 400 [euro]. In July 2006 this was revised to 804 [euro] and the latest proposal increases the fee to 1200 [euro]. CBA says that similar increases apply at the other end of the scale, where the registration ...
