I have watched the sex-abuse scenario unfold since the beginning ("... and what we've failed to do," The Examined Life, September). I have an adult son who, although he did not have such horrid experiences, will not go near a church because of this atrocity.
I speak for many when I say that the fact that this happened at all is beyond comprehension since these men supposedly follow Christ, but humans are imperfect and mistakes are made and should be forgiven.
