Article: Coconut oil specialist looks for revival of fortunes.(BCC Lanka Ltd.)

BCC Lanka Ltd., Sri Lanka, successor to the British Ceylon Corporation and a specialist in coconut oil/derivatives, is aiming at a comeback with better packaging, bigger volume and a barrage of manipulative advertising, according to reports. Says M.A.P. Hemachandra, BCC Chairman: "We still command brand loyalty, especially in the rural areas. Our aim is to go aggressively into the heartland and increase our volumes there."

Mr Hemachandra, who took over the top job at the giant-but-ailing company last November, plans to sell BCC products to all Multi-Purpose Co-operative Societies on a buy now, pay later arrangement, thus carving out a permanent and lucrative market ...
