Diversity will always be a defining characteristic of American society. From our earliest years as a nation through today, we are continually enriched by the expanding variety of cultures that make up our population.
In fact, minority groups now account for more than 40% of the United States' total work force, according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
As this occurs, however, significant inequities in health outcomes remain among different racial and ethnic groups in the United States. These disparities cross a range of health risks and diseases.
