Improving the quality and safety of health care is the top priority of Donna Katen-Bahensky, who Wednesday was named chief executive officer of UW Hospital.
"We have to prove to the external world that we can be trusted to take care of people," said Katen-Bahensky, the current CEO at University of Iowa Hospital. She will begin her Madison job Feb. 4.
Deciding how UW Hospital should grow - including how to use 42 acres the hospital purchased two years ago on the Far East Side - also will be front and center, Katen-Bahensky said.
