At the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima visitors wind their way through the galleries devoted to depicting the consequences, both to humans and the environment, of nuclear warfare. For a Westerner, it is an uncomfortable and revealing experience. Revealing, since there is no mention here of Japan's aggression of the atrocities its Imperial Forces committed during the course of the Second World War. Uncomfortable, because not only is this an exhibition about an Allied atrocity in which between 130,000 and 150,000 people were killed by one bomb, but it is also history at its most graphic.
