It feels great going down, but sometime after midnight your body tells you in no uncertain terms that you are going to pay for this. The fire starts in your belly and works its way up to your chest. There's no way you're going to sleep until you've put it out.
Technically, you have gastroesophageal reflux disease, better known as heartburn. It occurs when acidified stomach contents slosh up into the esophagus instead of staying in the stomach like they're supposed to.
