No.7, Mickey Mantle, the legendary centerfielder for the New York Yankees, died Sunday, and with him went a piece of the childhood of millions of baseball fans who lost one of the game's leading icons of this century.
Mantle, 63, died at 2:10 a.m. at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas from cancer that had spread rapidly from the diseased liver doctors removed in June.
``This is the most aggressive cancer that anyone on the medical team has ever seen,'' said Goran Klintmalm, medical director of transplant services at Baylor.
