We heard a high-pitched scream and turned to see a male gorilla move out of the jungle. A group of females and youths followed him. Instantly, the area came alive with activity.
The Virunga Mountains in rwanda and neighboring Zaire are home to approximately 320 mountain gorillas. About 320 more mountain gorillas live in the Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. These are the only surviving mountain gorillas in the wild.
The Virunga Mountains are located within the Parc National des Volcans (National Park of the Volcanoes). Five dormant volcanoes surround the beautiful rain forest in which the gorillas live. The Parc is also the home of the Mountain Gorilla Project. ...
