SEOUL, Dec 13 Asia Pulse - A South Korean cargo train on Dec. 11 crossed the heavily fortified border dividing the two Koreas as the countries launched a regular inter-Korean train service for first time since its operation was suspended on June 12, 1951, at the outbreak of the Korean War.

South Korean government officials described the event as a significant step toward reconciliation and peace. The train left South Korea's Munsan station, just south of the inter-Korean border, shortly after 6 a.m. It arrived at North Korea's Panmun station after going through border inspections.
