COTTAGE GROVE - Gold Beach let its ground attack do the talking, with a little help from it pass defense, en route to a 39-18 victory over Rainier in the semifinals of the OSAA Class 3A state football playoffs at Cottage Grove High School on Saturday.
The undefeated Panthers (13-0) will meet Vale (10-2) at Hillsboro Stadium on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for the championship. Vale defeated Clatskanie 37-6 in the other semifinal.
Junior quarterback Jeffrey Knox carried 13 times for 144 yards to lead a ground game that netted 301 of Gold Beach's 325 total yards. Travis Moore gained another 85 yards in 22 carries and ...
