You know those movies where a dysfunctional family gets together, bickers and argues and comes close to a total meltdown, only to reconcile in the end and come away with their bonds stronger than ever?

Cut out that last part and you've got "Margot at the Wedding." Following up 2005's "The Squid and the Whale," writer-director Noah Baumbach continues his witty but unsparing dissections of families by looking at two adult sisters who almost can't help but try to destroy each other.

Some viewers might feel they'll get enough of that at Christmas dinner with the folks, and there are moments in "Margot" that seem gratuitously ...
