Introduction
Waxes are used in aqueous inks and coatings to impart specific surface properties such as slip, rub resistance, mar and abrasion resistance, gloss reduction, antiblocking, and water-repellency. In an earlier paper, the basic selection criteria for a slip additive for printing inks and coatings was discussed(1). Most of the previous work focused on waxes for offset and solvent-based systems. In this paper, similar selection criteria for aqueous inks and coatings are reviewed.
