NYMPHING FOR TROUT is a bit of a mystery because everything takes place on the bottom where you can't see it happen. It's hard to tell what your fly is doing down there, or even if it is down there. The best way around this is to let your thoughts go beneath the surface, into the world of the trout.
Hold your breath; here we go.
The first thing to notice is how fast the current moves on the surface and in the middle depths, but how it suddenly slows, on account of friction, right above the bottom rocks.
