COUNCIL bosses flew to Cardiff yesterday to make a last-ditch appeal for extra cash to fund local services and stave off a big hike in tax bills.
Three local authorities with the worst grant settlements from the Assembly Government will urge local government minister Brian Gibbons to install a "glass floor" on funding to protect council taxpayers.
Council bosses in Ynys Mon, Conwy and Powys were furious when they were left with below inflation rises of just 1.1% and 1% in the deal, compared to a Wales average among 22 authorities of 2.2%.
