Sunderland's new rail link to London has received a big thumbs-up from travellers after completing its first run.
Grand Central's inaugural service left Sunderland station bang on time and reached King's Cross seven minutes ahead of schedule.
Rail fans Paul Gash and Richard Tiplady were among the handful of passengers to join the first train.
Eighteen-year-old Richard, of Fellgate, South Tyneside, was quickly taken with the new service.
"I just wanted to be a part of history today," he said. "I think it is very good. I like the colour scheme and the board games on the tables."
So would he use Grand Central again?
"All the time."
