DEERFIELD, Ill. -- After months of talks over what it labels "unreasonably low and below-market payment rates" went nowhere, Walgreen Co. opted last month to stop providing pharmacy services to pateints covered by four prescription plans managed by CVS Caremark Corp.
The plans cover a total of about 100,000 people who reside in the Midwest.
Patients affected include members of prescription benefits plans managed by CVS Caremark for Arcelor Mittal, Johnson Controls Inc., Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. and the Wisconsin Education Association Trust. Most of the affected members live in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
