Two centres of power clash; The first conflict between Thabo Mbeki, South Africa's national president, and Jacob Zuma, the new ANC president, has broken out. Zuma is saying that he will re-look at the policy of inflation targeting, which is vital to Mbeki's economic strategy and which has necessitated the raising of interest rates, while Mbeki has come under bitter attack for approving a new SABC board which Zuma's leftist allies have rejected.
