One day affirmative action will end. But it would be folly to arbitrarily end it now, even if the Supreme Court does seem hostile to the concept. There are two reasons: (1) Ending affirmative action to preempt the Supreme Court makes no sense since (whatever the court decides regarding the public sector), it is unlikely to prohibit affirmative action in private universities and corporations. (2) To suddenly end affirmative action would make life harder for countless people of color. And there is no compelling rationale to do that.
