I have noticed a trend with students who enroll in my School of Education graduate seminars. Their passions for reforming education, creating democratic schools, and eradicating social injustices appear to be on the rise. Their interest in exploring ways that theory in general and the discipline of philosophy in particular might help them achieve those aims is on the decline. The divide between abstract philosophical treatises and the "real world" remains wide.
