The GBC Materials, USA, has introduced dry-pressed aluminium oxide (alumina) ceramic balls for use in extremely harsh environments. The rolling, spherical components find applications in mechanical devices that provide rotary or linear motion, such as check and ball valves and bearings.
GBC Material's alumina balls can be used in a variety of industries, including electrical, environmental, chemical, material processing and automotive, the company says.
The balls provide several advantages over comparable steel products, making them perfect for harsh environments. For instance, alumina is resistant to high temperatures, as well as most corrosive substances. Balls ...
