The Millennium Stadium apologised last night as it emerged that pounds 100,000 raised at the Tsunami Relief concert in January 2005 was only paid to the charity this week.

More than 60,000 people from across Britain attended the concert weeks after the Boxing Day 2004 disaster, which killed an estimated 300,000 people in South Asia, raising around pounds 1.3m for the survivors.

Artists including Eric Clapton, the Manic Street Preachers, Jools Holland and Craig David performed at the hastily arranged event for no fee.
