ACCORDING TO PIETER MEIJER, vice president of marketing for roll goods producer Fiberweb, 2007 was a year of growth at his company. An exception to this was the market for building products, where difficulties in the U.S. led to lower demand for nonwovens.

"The year was characterized by unprecedented increases in the prices for all our raw materials," he said. "Although the industry has been quite successful in recuperating most of the increases in polymer prices, we have not yet been able to increase prices to reflect the increases in all the other costs as well."
