Mayor Richard M. Daley has proposed restructuring his financial team to compensate for the departure of a veteran aide last month to the financially troubled Chicago Public Schools.
Walter Knorr, who has served as Chicago's comptroller for the past eight years, would become the city's chief financial officer under the reorganization proposed by Daley.
The city has been without a chief financial officer for more than two years. Knorr said yesterday that in the new post, he would coordinate all financial issues for the city and oversee the two new appointees to the financial team.
