LABOUR peer Lord Ahmed was "in shock" today after he hit and killed a motorist on Christmas Day in a horror M1 pile-up.
Lord Ahmed of Rotherham was driving southbound on the M1 near junction 35 at Chapeltown in north Sheffield when his gold Jaguar collided with a red Audi A4.
Moments before, the Audi had struck the central reservation and spun around, so it was facing the wrong way in the overtaking lane of the southbound carriageway.
The driver - a 28-year-old Slovakian man from Leigh in Lancashire - and his 30-year-old male passenger, had both managed to clamber out of the crashed vehicle and run safely to the hard shoulder.
