CARACAS, Venezuela, Dec. 26, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- The day after Christmas was agonizingly suspenseful for the families of hostages in Colombia, as they waited to hear whether their government would accept the FARC guerrillas' proposal for the release of three captives.

They were joyful on Wednesday afternoon when the Colombian government announced that it "authorized the humanitarian mission under the terms" that had been proposed by Venezuelan President Hugo Ch vez a few hours earlier.
